F.A.Q
Your website seems to be broken?
We update our website from time to time. Your browser may have cached older versions and may not be able to find the files that have been replaced. You can hard refresh the page and that should fix the problem. Let us knowif that doesn't solve the problem as it could be a bug we're not aware of.
Which browser works best?
Most modern browsers should work, including mobile browsers. We mainly use Firefox during development and include Edge, Chrome, and Safari when carrying out testing. Therefore, the aforementioned would be recommended. Having said that, we noticed that on macOS Firefox had significantly better performance out of all when converting subpictures.
Why am I getting a "Failed site verification check" error?
We use Google Recaptcha to prevent abuse and it often blocks IP addresses from popular VPN servers. You can try disabling your VPN and see how it goes. If the problem persists you may want to try using a different browser.
Why does my CPU usage go so high during subpicture conversion process?
Here we utilise your own computer's CPU (via your browser) to do the subtitle conversion, and subpicture files conversion requires heavy CPU usage. Once conversion starts, the cue pictures within the file are extracted and prepared for OCR (Optical Character Recognition) process. Recognising a single picture does not take too long. However, there often could be thousands of cue pictures within a single subpicture subtitle file that need to be extracted, processed and then recognised by the OCR engine.
Why are subpicture conversions taking so long?
Similar to above, we utilise your own computer's CPU (via your browser) to do the subtitle conversion, and subpicture files conversion requires heavy CPU usage. So the faster your CPU (processor) is, the faster the conversion will be.
I don't want to see ads. Can I pay you so that I don't have to see ads?
We are certainly considering that. However, we would wait and see if there is enough demands for this out there. If we get at least 10 requests for this via our Contact Page, we would definitely look into allowing our users to purchase prepaid plans as a way to support this website.
