Can I convert an IDX file to SRT without the SUB file?
No. The IDX file provides index, timing, and language information; the matching SUB file contains the subtitle images needed for OCR.
Are SUB/IDX and IDX/SUB different formats?
No. Both names refer to the same VobSub pair: a SUB image file and its matching IDX index file.
Does this convert every SUB file?
No. This tool accepts image-based VobSub SUB/IDX pairs only. Text-based MicroDVD .sub files are different and are handled by the general Subtitle Converter instead.
Why are my VobSub files not being recognized?
Extract the files from ZIP or RAR archives, check that the .sub and .idx basenames match, and choose both files together. The IDX file can also provide the subtitle language automatically.
Do my subtitle files leave my device?
No. Subtitle processing happens in your browser. OCR models may be downloaded, but your subtitle files are not sent to our server. Keep the tab open while converting.
